Q: When is this program effective?
A: The program is effective January 1, 2008, for new & renewal business

Q: Will EMPLOYERS automatically move current CRA renewals into this new program?
A: Yes, existing EMPLOYERS accounts that are CRA members will be automatically moved upon renewal.

Q: Has EMPLOYERS broadened their underwriting eligibility requirements for CRA members?
A: Yes, EMPLOYERS has agreed to expand its underwriting guidelines for CRA members. For only CRA members, EMPLOYERS will offer workers’ compensation insurance for the quick service and fast food industry, subject to no 24 hours operations, delivery or off premises operations.

Q: Will all CRA member accounts qualify for the EMPLOYERS/CRA program?
A: No, only those classifications that are identified in the “qualifications” section of this web site will qualify for consideration in the CRA/EMPLOYERS program. All accounts are subject to EMPLOYERS underwriting guidelines.

Q: How do non-CRA clients access this program?
A: You must be a member of the CRA to access this program. To join the CRA, go to www.calrest.org or e-mail CRA at: membership@calrestorg

Q: Do businesses located outside of California qualify for this program?
A: Yes, businesses that extend outside of California will be considered, however, they are subject to state rate filings and regulations. It is also subject to Employers Compensation Insurance Company (“ECIC”) being licensed and operational in states outside of California.

Q: What is the minimum premium? Maximum premium?
A: The minimum premium is $500. There is no maximum premium.

Q: Is there a deductible program?
A: No

Q: What does it cost to join the California Restaurant Association?
A: The minimum annual dues are $375 per year. The annual dues will vary based on combined gross annual food and beverage sales for all company-owned California locations. For example, between $250,000 - $799,999 the dues are $450 annually. For an account with gross sales between $3,000,000 - $4,900,000, the dues would be $950 annually.

Q: Could I pay my CRA dues by credit card or monthly installments?
A: Yes. The CRA takes American Express, VISA, Mastercard and Discover cards. The CRA also has an easy and convenient monthly plan for your annual membership investment.

Q: Are new ventures eligible for the program?
A: Yes. They will be considered for the program and eligible for the special CRA rate credit.

Q: How can CRA members not currently insured by EMPLOYERS access the program?
A: CRA members may contact our special call center number at (888) 387-5302 to obtain a preferred agency recommendation for their area of the state, or email Deniece Zwick at dlzwick@employers.com.

Q: What is the EMPLOYERS process for handling non-appointed agents with CRA accounts?
A: Non-appointed agents may access the program through I-COMP (if they are IBA West members), be referred to a wholesaler, or may be considered for a direct appointment.
